In Camerata Øresund I play Violone, or baroque bass which one also can call it. I started playing electric bass as a child and went on to the double bass and later Violone and have moved from rock to jazz, classical, baroque, renaissance etc. The fun thing about playing bass is that no matter what music you play, you have the same role, to be the harmonic and rhythmic foundation and give structure to the music. When I play bass with CØ I feel that it is much more like what I did when I, as a teenager, played electric bass in rock bands than when I later played big symphony orchestras. It is the same feeling, the same responsibility and the same freedom, you are the only bassist and play music with a fixed pulse and only have your own pulse sense and fellow musicians to guide you and follow no conductor.
